I’m Baaaaaack!

with one comment

Ah, the ups and downs of blogging on my own site.

I’m baaaack!

Yesterday I published an article at Religion Dispatches, about the role of religious groups in battling predatory gambling in MA, and around the country.  In it, Laura Everett of the Massachusetts Council of Churches has a message for Governor Deval Patrick who doesn’t seem to get it that casinos are not free money.

“I think it’s cowardly,” said Laura Everett. ”We are going to sacrifice our citizens. We know that there are people in Massachusetts who will become addicted. What Patrick is saying is ‘you are expendable.’”

This is important because the Governor says he wants to go another round. He also does not seem to remember that his casino proposal was beaten by better than 2-1 in the legislature last year.

How much punishment can one pol stand?

  1. I just missed out on your diary on Kos about The Eliminationists.
    I have that book.
I was so excited to see someone write on it but, sorry to see it drop without much notice.
I would love to see more info out on the book for Kossacks and the like to know about it. It is vital for many of us to read it and understand what kind of people we are dealing with here.
Teabaggers are not just nuts. Many are crazy and the people pulling the strings are dangerous.
The one thing that has the most concern for me is the fact that the press is so ready to follow and repeat anything the right tells them.
They will pick up the talking points and send them out thru the guise of it coming from mainstream.
The press is just so gullible with the right and so easy to make them dance to their tune. The press seems to be unable to see the reality of the rightwing.
    They clamor for their approval.
And treat mainstream center left as if it’s the far left fringe.
Everything has become so screwed up and unless we know about the people who are on the other side doing this, we will never make headway in putting the country back on track.
    anyway, thanks for the diary
